Dance Gallery Studio Opens Registration for Fall Classes and Announces New Director

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) August 16, 2004 -

– It’s time to register for Fall classes at Dance Gallery Studio, Ann Arbor’s only non-profit dance center with a state-of-the-art 5,000 square-foot space at 815 Wildt Street. Students of all ages and levels can study ballet, modern, jazz and pilates or stay in shape in one of the popular morning fitness classes. Along with the Fall schedule, the studio also announces the new Dance Gallery Studio Director of Studio Programs, Kathryn Contessa.

Kathryn Contessa recently moved to Ann Arbor and has a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is trained in ballet and modern dance and has extensive teaching experience with both youth and adult students. She has danced professionally with the Charleston Ballet Theatre, The Richmond Ballet, and Cincinnati Ballet and currently performs as a soloist with the Cerulean Dance Theatre. Kathryn’s choreography premiered in Richmond, VA in 2003. Her recent work, “DeCapo”, was created using Life Forms, a computer animation program. Kathryn has received a technology grant for her choreography as well as scholarships and awards for her dancing.

Under her guidance, a host of highly-qualified instructors will instruct classes September 8th through December 11th at Dance Gallery Studio, highlights include:

-A pre-professional training program for youth who want an in-depth, conservatory style dance instruction

-Youth classes in creative movement, pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, modern for both boys and girls

-Adult class in Gyrokinesis®, “Pilates on the Ball/Mat”, stretch and strengthening, ballet, modern, yoga, “Broadway Dance,” and much more

-Dance and health workshops, master classes with visiting guest artists and performance opportunities
